Area around Captain Cat gets a clean-up
As summer approaches, your FOCUS team is keen to make sure the community has years of leaf litters and rubbish cleared up across the community.
Your Waterfront Lib Dem team, led by local city Councillor Sam Bennett, operates across the Maritime Quarter and SA1. They are dedicated to advancing the community's priorities and striving to get the basics right. The team places community concerns at the forefront of their efforts, working to create a cleaner, greener, and safer Swansea.

Cllr Sam Bennett has committed £3k to buy planters for Dylan Thomas Square. These planters will add a much-needed splash of colour to the main outdoor space in Waterfront ward.
Cllr Sam Bennett has written to Swansea Council’s planning department with concerns over how out of date the SA1 master plan is.
Tax on city centre parking to remain in force.
In the last edition of FOCUS we reported that we were continuing to pursue Welsh Government to have 20mph signs added to the Eastern end of Langdon Road. We can confirm, Welsh Government contractors have come and added these signs. The road will not be painted to highlight the 20mph zone as this will become the default speed in Wales in September 2023.
A consistent complaint from residents is summer parking on Aurora Green. £4,000 had been ear- marked by Cllr Bennett to prevent this. Works being undertaken on Aurora means this area will become a builders compound for about a year. As part of the “putting right,” Cllr Bennett’s plans will be done by the builder, at no cost to the tax payer!
We work for the people of Waterfront and aim to be the voice for their priorities whilst promoting a fair, free and open society.
Your Waterfront team are always working to clean up our community, protect and improve our green spaces and get action for leasholders affected by unadopted highways and the cladding scandal.
The Waterfront Lib Dem Team is determined to bring new life to our community, which has been neglected for too long by the Welsh Labour Council. Our goal is to rejuvenate the "jewel in the crown" of Swansea, the Maritime Quarter, and make it a destination that visitors want to return to. By enhancing foot traffic for local businesses and improving the quality of life in our community, we aim to restore the shine to the area we call home.
Our stunning community is a popular destination for a variety of competitive and charitable events, and it is wonderful to host such a diverse range of visitors. We are proactively collaborating with Council Officers and local resident groups to minimize the impact of road closures, by improving communication about closures and limiting the dates of closures in both the Maritime Quarter and SA1.
The residents of our community have been patiently waiting for too long for the completion of adoptions for our roads, pavements, street lighting, and parks. The Waterfront Lib Dem team is committed to putting pressure on the Council and developers to finally deliver on these important improvements.
At the same time, many in our community have been impacted by the fire safety crisis, where shoddy building practices have left homes with serious fire safety concerns and residents facing increased insurance premiums and costly fire safety upgrades. The team is working closely with fire safety advocates across Wales to hold Welsh Labour accountable and push for meaningful action to resolve this critical issue.
