Student Candidate Storms to Success
Easter last year our branch had the opportunity to run a real Council By-election.
Society members were determined in this safe Labour ward to give residents an alternative, and happily one of the students, Dan Burton, was selected as the candidate, and their agent was our very own Sam Wilson.
Our candidate Dan Burton made huge success being both popular with residents and a competent policy speaker, matched by Sam Wilson’s organisation and the guiding hand of the local Swansea Party, who were there every step of the way.
Candidate Dan Burton said: “Being a by-election candidate was an experience I never thought I would get at university, it taught all us students so much, and we had a spectacular result, increasing our vote by 25% since we last stood there. I know what I learnt will be useful when applying for jobs when I graduate.”
